Shopping (India) |
In India there are new shopping centers opening
on an almost daily basis in India. These shopping areas are
designed on the lines of traditional Indian villages but with
highly intricate architectural designs that appeal to the artistic
eye. India offers a variety of uniquely Indian handicrafts ranging
from women's accessories to rugs to souvenir oddities. India
is fast finding its place in Asia as a shopping paradise not
unlike Hong Kong and Bangkok. Tourists call the country an all-round
shopping mall because of the amazing way traditional Indian
items such as antiques, traditional textiles, and handicrafts
are sold alongside Western, more modern articles as well as
some highly exotic products exclusive to the Indian shopping
experience. Shopping in India is never a dull experience; newer
goods arrive every month, not just in swanky urban malls but
in the street side bazaars too. Shopping is an educational yet
addictive hobby especially for those who browse in the streets.
Although some items may be steeply priced, they are still available
for a fraction of what you would pay at Harrods or Bloomingdales.
Don’t hesitate to use credit cards for the more expensive goodies
like hand woven carpets and antiques. For those must-have designer
bags and other luxury goods, both real and fake, displayed on
the streets, don’t hesitate to haggle till the price has been
lowered to a mid way mark between the price quoted and the price
you first offered. Bargaining is the name of the game and on
a typical shopping spree, be prepared for a good fifteen minutes
of haggling. |
